Marina’s Story

Homeopathy has been in my life for many years now. My family and I have been using it for different acute ‘dis-eases’ as well as constitutional or chronic conditions. Some of the positive changes we’ve had over the years many would call miraculous, but that’s another story!

A couple of months ago my 3 children and I had mycoplasma pneumoniae. To be honest, it was one of the worst states I’ve personally ever been in. I had intense draining high fevers lasting for nearly 10 days; extreme fatigue; nausea; cold drenching sweats coming in waves; body aches; and to top it all off, a chest infection with a constant dry racking cough, tearing chest pains causing sleepless nights.

When the GP confirmed it was mycoplasma, she suggested that the only effective solution would be antibiotics. In my belief, pharmaceuticals should be used only as the last resort and can definitely be life-saving. However, holistic supportive methods come first and foremost for me, and it wasn’t an exception for us to resource to homeopathy at home.

So when I got a call from the GP confirming mycoplasma pneumoniae, I called our family homeopath, Michelle. Michelle took our cases over the phone, taking into account our individual symptoms, mental, emotional and physical state. She guided our homeopathic treatment for 5 long weeks in total, starting with my eldest daughter who came down with it first, and finishing with myself, who got it last…as mums usually do!

Over that time we had lots of different supportive herbal tinctures and teas, vitamin supplements, nourishing fresh foods, movement to a reasonable level, chest physio massages and detox baths in conjunction with homeopathy. All of it played an essential role in leading us to healing. Each and every holistic modality we chose was bringing us back to balance.

We checked in with the GP regularly, to monitor our breathing, oxygen saturation and to make sure we were on track. We purchased the antibiotics in case we needed them, however I kept giving ourselves a 24-hour window for a slight improvement every day, and in the end we didn’t need them. Every day there was a small shift showing us we were on the right track.

Yes, the recovery took some time. There was no miracle cure overnight, but I have no regrets in the path we chose. We had to go through the acute, however the remedies helped relieve symptoms and speed up our recovery. The GPs prognosis on antibiotics was about a 6-8 weeks, and we managed to recover in 2 – 4 weeks and avoid gut dysbiosis from the antibiotics.

Michelle’s care and support of our chosen treatment option was crucial. Her regular messages and phone calls were something you don’t usually get in the medical practice these days.

Now as time passed, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to live through this episode with my daughters and myself.

I’m certain that if not for Michelle’s great knowledge and the “detective” approach, her care and support, I probably would have looked at it as a traumatic event.

Two months down the track we are fully recovered, and I can undoubtedly say my belief and trust in homeopathy has cemented even more. As a bonus, my husband, who’s been always quite sceptical towards homeopathic remedies, got to see its action first hand and was my rock though this experience cheering me on alongside Michelle.

Warmest regards,
Marina
